Yi XIng Factory 1 90s Ming Yue Teapot 宜興廠壺明月
Bringing you a batch of curated Míngyue 明月 teapots from Yixing Factory 1 (1994) with a capacity of 170cc perfect for solo seances or small groups. Likened to the bright full moon due to its round shape, you simply can’t go wrong with a near perfectly round teapot which allows tightly rolled oolongs to fully open up. Made from premium Yixing red clay by Master Chen Xiaozhen in the early 90s, each pot has a sandy reddish hue after intense firing in the kilns. As the lid and body of each pot were both fired simultaneously, the lid is intentionally made slightly larger and might feel a tad loose. There is relatively negligible heat loss and what is more important is that it pours well with a good flow.
Factory One teapots are distinguished by their exquisite craftsmanship and the use of Yixing's famed purple clay, also known as zisha clay, a material revered for its ability to retain heat and enhance the flavors of tea brewed within. Skilled artisans meticulously produce these teapots, incorporating intricate designs, elegant handles, and well-balanced proportions. They continue to be cherished for their historical significance and simple, understated beauty. Today, these iconic teapots remain highly esteemed by collectors and tea enthusiasts worldwide, embodying the essence of Chinese tea culture and the enduring legacy of Yixing's pottery craftsmanship.
Early Yixing Factory 1 pots may inevitably have minor flaws that make them not entirely perfect and smooth. So for those looking for completely perfect teapots might have to consider carefully before purchasing.
