West Australian Premium Old Growth Santalum Spicatum, 10mm x 108 (horizontal grain)

Beads made from a single log century old premium growth Santalum Spicatum. Due to the climate and aridity, growth is usually very slow giving a nice fine grain parallel grain. To preserve the beauty of the parallel grain, the bead making was technically a bit more complex than usual, the wood was sliced vertically rather than horizontally so that the parallel grain can be highlighted. Dense and a very nice texture, generally inexpensive heirloom grade stuff. Scent is bold and bright, woody, spicy, sweet, balsamic and intense!
